Following the sudden death of her father, respected academic Helen (Claire Foy, The Lady in the Van) withdraws from the familiar rhythms of life and turns instead to the ancient, exacting art of falconry. As she attempts to train a fierce and untamed goshawk, the film unfolds as a quiet dialogue between human vulnerability and the natural world’s indifference and beauty. Patient, immersive, and richly observed, H Is for Hawk reflects on loss, solitude, and the discipline required to live alongside pain without being consumed by it. The result is a contemplative cinematic experience that invites audiences into a space of reflection, stillness, and hard-won grace.
\r\n
It premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, and the hawk costars are all actual hawks with no CGI used. 🎥
\r\n
Register online on our website, over the phone, or in person at the Red Deer Museum + Art Gallery.
